OUR Why

Please allow me to introduce myself, Jenny Wetstein - Luke Baker Wetstein's , mom and current content creator, which will soon be passed on to one of the do-gooders :)

During Luke's 2nd or 3rd grade year attending PC, Dr. Shealy the head of lower school introduced the concept of having a "WHY" to  each student. At the same time, I was learning about it at Oracle Corporation . Put simply, the "WHY" relates to having a purpose, mission, a beacon for our journey.

Fast forward to last summer, prior to Luke's freshman year at PC, on a night similar to this one, I couldn't sleep and was anxious about all the upcoming changes Luke would be met with upon entering 9th grade. One requirement in particular was the number of volunteer hours each student was required to fulfill doing charity.  I didn't want it to be about completing charity because it was required to graduate, but rather because it is the right thing to do as a human being.  My tribe (the moms of Luke's best friends) and I were constantly communicating about all the new expectations, all of which seem to lead to differentiating themselves for college applications. The pressure and competition to get accepted to college today is daunting, so as Mothers it is our priority to prepare them. But again, I wanted the journey to be meaningful, rather than perceived as another checklist item.

As a result of tossing and turning that restless summer evening, I got up and the idea of launching a platform for the boys to perform acts of kindness was ignited.  With encouragement from my "couldn't survive this chapter  mom friends who are now best friends"-- the site was launched and here we are ... Please note that I may be authoring but it takes a village and everyone is contributing.

Our goal then and now is for the boys  - Luke and his best buddies - to be the catalyst for the Class of 2029 by performing and inspiring others to perform Good Deeds, a minimum of 2029 of them by the time they graduate in May of 2029. That was and remains our WHY! Won't you join us?!
