Lots of questions, little time and few explanations are available as we are all in shock!
Robert Baker, a 54 male who is a vegetarian and as healthy as anyone could possibly be - does not drink, do drugs or any dangerous activities - has been sick for about a month. Last Saturday night, August 29th, he finally went to the ER at Broward General Hospital with shortness of breadth and admitted into the CV ICU with heart failure. Unfortunately Rob doesn't have health insurance and needs a LIFE SAVING HEART TRANSPLANT!
Broward General has been absolutely amazing keeping him alive, literally. His Doctor was helping me navigate Medicade on Friday; a cardiovascular specialist on the phone with folks at Cleveland clinic real-time, all in an effort to do whatever necessary to save Rob's life; to get him transferred and on the Donor list ASAP! Who does that?! Dr. Reyna did.
If you landed on this page, we (Luke his 16 year old son and I) are asking for a patient pledge to show the Cleveland Clinic Financial Department that we are working diligently to raise funds that will be paid directly to them as the bill is upwards of $1.9M. They will not allow him to be transferred without proof of insurance and/or ability to pay out of pocket.
This is nothing short of a miracle. I realize this which is why we are asking anyone and everyone to pledge a payment, and once I know the best way to get the funds to hospital -- will set that up; be it GO FUND ME or another payment portal for donations.
